Although for most people Humal is associated with beer, the name Humal has always had a very deep meaning in Tartu. Since the second half of the 20th century, the name has been a part of Tartu’s beverage and food culture, has remained in the memories of many people and still evokes mainly nostalgic, but warm feelings. There are historical hours-long queues in the memorabilia, and the beer partially mixed with water offered from the bar definitely outweighs the emotion that Humal had created in Tartu.

That is why our most beautiful city, Tartu, must always have one Humal, albeit in a new location, but still in the heart of Tartu. Years have passed, but Humal is back in Tartu, wanting to offer memorable feelings, meaningful discussions and fun moments. Humal is a place where you have the freedom to remember, the freedom to enjoy and the freedom to just be yourself!

Bistro and French kitchen culture are keywords that have inspired us to create this menu, and they are also beliefs that we follow every day in the kitchen, service and atmosphere. Just as bistros are always cosy, nice and pleasant, we try to reflect the same in the food and drink menu.

Simple dishes inspired by French cuisine and transformed into high-quality and complete dishes. All this is supported by an ambitious cocktail menu, an impressive wine cabinet and one of the best draft beer selections in the city.

We are holders of the Green Key certificate. Green Key is an international eco-label for tourism companies and since 1994 it has been the leading standard for recognising the environmentally friendly and sustainable operation of a tourism company. To date, approx. 4,000 companies from 60 countries around the world have joined the label.

The goal of Humal BISTRO is to reduce the environmental impact of its activities, promote a sustainable way of thinking in society and contribute to balanced development. Humal does its best to add momentum to environmental protection and sustainable development and plays the role of an awareness of sustainable behavior as much as possible. With the help of environmental metrics, we monitor aspects of our activities and both direct and indirect environmental impacts and do our best to reduce negative environmental impacts.

Implementation of economical use of natural resources, prevention of environmental pollution and minimisation of pollution are important for us. We reduce excessive consumption of electricity, thermal energy, ventilation, water, paper, materials, and data volume. The company recovers or revalues its durable goods.

Our people! There are too few words in our beautiful Estonian to describe how important our people are. They are the ones who come early in the morning and leave late, in the form of a smile and a desire to offer the best. Without them, Humal BISTRO would certainly not be Humal.
